How to Configure and Use Enterprise Tags
Tags are labels attached to content for identification or to provide information about the media. Enterprise tags are pre-defined tags that enable Portal Managers to control and restrict the input of irrelevant tags by Contributors when publishing media.
Enterprise tags are configured at both Account and Portal levels. Portals can inherit tags from the Account. Users can add or select from pre-defined tags while publishing media. If a Portal Manager deletes a tag that is used in any media, the tag is removed from all related media.
Tags assist viewers in searching media, display related media based on tag matches, and provide a quick overview of media content before viewing. Tags also display on the Playback page.
Prerequisites
- You must belong to a group with Portal Management feature enabled, or have a CAL that grants this permission.
Configure Enterprise Tags
- In the left navigation panel, expand Admin and select Portal Settings.
- In the Portal Settings navigation, expand Library.
- Select Tags to open the Global Tags screen.
- Enter a tag name and press Enter to add it to the list. The tag is added to the portal's tag cloud.
- Configure the Allow publishers to add new tags when publishing/drafting Videos checkbox:
- Selected: Publishers can add new tags (not in Global Tags) when publishing media.
- Deselected: Publishers can only select from pre-defined Global Tags.
- Select Update to save your changes.
NOTE: If the checkbox is deselected and no tags are defined in Global Tags, the Tags feature is deactivated. The option to add tags becomes unavailable when publishing media.
Use Enterprise Tags When Publishing
- In the left navigation panel, select Add Media.
- Select Upload Video or your preferred upload option.
- Upload your media file.
- In the Media Settings Basic Settings tab, select tags from the available Global Tags.
If the Portal Manager has restricted adding new tags, a message displays: "Administrator has restricted the rights to add new tags."
NOTE: Tags in the Tag Cloud appear based on weightage. The most frequently used tags appear first. By default, twenty tags display in the tag cloud.
Create Multilingual Tag Associations
Using VIDIZMO's multilingual feature, you can create one-to-one associations of tags in multiple languages. This allows you to define a tag once and then provide translations for each allowed language.
- Navigate to Portal Settings > Library > Tags.
- Change your portal language from My Profile.
- Select the tag you want to update.
- In the Update Tag screen, enter the text for the tag in the selected language.
- Select Update on the Update Tag screen.
- Select Update on the Global Tags screen to save all changes.
NOTE: Tag association functionality is only available if the Multilingual feature is enabled on your portal. See Understanding Multilingual Support in VIDIZMO.
